About Us

EQTC is a governance and school leadership consultancy that provides a comprehensive suite ofservices to governing bodies and school leaders from all phases of education. Our team of education consultants and National Leaders of Governance have experience of working with academies, multi-academy trusts, free schools, maintained schools, faith schools, special schools and pupil referral units. We have worked with all age ranges from nursery through to sixth form colleges. 


We offer a comprehensive suite of services to school governors and senior leaders through our team of education consultants, National Leaders of Governance and qualified clerks.


Carole Owen 


Carole Owen is an education consultant who advises school leaders and governing bodies across the north of England. She founded EQ Training and Consultancy after a career in education. As a Headteacher, her school was the first in her Local Authority to be assessed as Outstanding by Ofsted and recognised as one of the top twenty most improved schools. As a member of SSAT National Headteacher’s Steering group, she contributed to the development of educational policy through meetings with the Secretary of State and senior civil servants. Carole knows the challenges faced by governing boards through her experience as a governor of several schools in all phases of education. She is passionate about delivering high quality training and consultancy to all school leaders and governors.


Dr Harry Ziman 


Harry Ziman is a National Leader of Governance and former director of the National Governors Association and Independent Academies Association. He is an exceptionally experienced governor who has chaired schools in all phases of education from nursery to Sixth Form including a pupil referral unit. His services are often sought to lead schools of all phases that are in Special Measures where he has consistently brought about sustained school improvement by building professional leadership capacity and focusing schools on their core purpose of developing young people, but he also chairs Outstanding schools. He has lead seven schools through academy conversion and he currently chairs two multi-academy trusts.
